Green & Black Butterfly Wing Earrings, Madagascan Sunset Moth

Iridescent black and green Moth earrings. This pair is made with the forewings of the species Urania ripheus, aka Madagascan Sunset Moth. The wings of this moth very greatly from the forewings of green and black to the hindwings of a rainbow of colors that shimmer in the light. All my specimens are purchased from a licensed supplier in Ontario Canada. This pair are made with Wings layered between two pieces plastic laminate to protect it. At the top of the wing there are seafoam green sea glass beads and set on surgical steel ear wires.

Handcrafted by me in my London Ontario Canada studio. Though my pieces are watertight, they are not 100% waterproof so care should be taken to not allow these to get wet.

Butterflies & Insects used in my pieces have been sustainably raised and bred on insect farms globally and play an important role in Conservation programs. Many governments and conservation programs (WWF & Nature Canada) teach sustainable practices of raising insects for economic purposes for livelihood rather than jobs that destroy rainforests such as slash and burn agricultural farming and logging.
